The same old problem: Manual chaining
Anyone who regularly imports new songs into their music player knows the scenario: There's a nice MP3 file — and often a lyrics file (RTF, HTML or TXT) alongside it.
The classic workflow:
- Import MP3 → Song is entered into the database
- Manually search for lyrics file → „Where was that file again?“
- Copy the file to the lyrics folder. → Manually juggling with Explorer
- Link in the song data record → Click the button, select the file, save it
For 10 songs? Doable.
For 100 songs? Tiresome.
For 1,000 songs? Unrealistic.
The solution: Lyrics co-import in Callers Caddy
Away Version 0.49 Callers Caddy does this automatically: When importing an MP3, the app simultaneously searches for a matching lyrics file — and links it immediately if found.
This saves time AND potential sources of error:
- ✅ No more manual copies
- ✅ No forgotten lyrics
- ✅ Consistent naming
- ✅ All in one step
How does that work?
The app is searching for a file containing same name (without file extension) in two locations:
1. In the import folder (where the MP3 is located)
Example: You import Ring Of Fire-RYL818.mp3 out of C:\Music\New\
→ The app simultaneously checks whether there Ring Of Fire-RYL818.rtf lies
→ If yes: automatically copied in the lyrics/-folder and linked ✨
2. In the app lyrics folder (Fallback)
If the lyrics file is already there (e.g. from a previous import):
→ Will she directly linked — no duplicate copies
Supported poetry formats
.rtf(Rich Text Format).htm/.html(Web format).txt(Plain Text)
The label recognition system
Callers Caddy also automatically recognizes the lyrics along with the lyrics import. Label from the filename. That saves you even more typing!
| File name | title | Label |
|---|---|---|
Break My Stride-BVR113.mp3 | Break My Stride | BVR113 |
BVR113-Break My Stride.mp3 | Break My Stride | BVR113 |
Ring Of Fire-RYL818+.mp3 | Ring of Fire | RYL818+ |
YRR 043a - Dunderklumpen.mp3 | Dunderklumpen | YRR 043a |
RBS 1326-Ace In The Hole.mp3 | Ace In The Hole | RBS 1326 |
Hoedown.mp3 | Hoedown | (empty) |
The logic is clever:
- Title and label can be found in any order before/after the hyphen
- Labels with spaces are recognized (e.g.
YRR 043a,RBS 1326) - Label suffixes such as
+are possible - No match? No problem — the full name is used as the title.
Here's how to try it out
Preparation:
- Save a few MP3s and their lyrics files in the same folder.
- Example:
Ring Of Fire.mp3+Ring Of Fire.rtf - Or with a label:
RYL818-Ring Of Fire.mp3+RYL818-Ring Of Fire.rtf
- Example:
- Open Caller's Caddy and click on NEW (or Import files)
- Select the MP3 files
- Observe the log output:
[Import] New: #123 'Ring Of Fire' [RYL818] [Import] Lyrics linked: Ring Of Fire.rtf
That's it! The song is set up, the label is identified, and the lyrics are already linked.
