What are Sync Points?
A sync point is an anchor between music and lyrics.
You're basically telling the caller's caddy:
„"When the music is at this exact point, this line of text should appear here in the window."“
Between two such anchors, the caller's caddy automatically calculates the scroll. And as soon as the next sync point is reached, the scroll resumes.
That means:
The text doesn't simply run evenly from top to bottom.
He constantly refers back to specific musical points in the song.
This is especially helpful for singing calls, because the structure is usually clear:
Intro, Opener, Figure, Middle Break, Figure, Figure, Closer, Outro.
Or, to put it more simply: The song has its fixed sections — and the lyric scroll can now orient itself accordingly.
Two ways: manually precise or automatically in a few clicks.
You can set the sync points in two ways.
Option 1: Manually click on important lines
If you want to be really precise, let the music play and click on the important lines directly in the text.
For example, the beginning of the opener, the beginning of the middle break, or the start of the closer.
The caller's caddy then remembers:
This line of text belongs to this part of the song.
The anchors are placed directly in the text. highlighted in yellow, so that you can recognize them immediately.
This is especially useful if you want to precisely control what is visible and when in a specific song.
Option 2: Automatically capture sync data in 2 clicks
It's even faster with the new automatic transmission.
The first time you synchronize a song, the Callers Caddy will ask you if you want the sections to be calculated automatically.
Then you only click on two places:
1. the beginning of the first part of the choreography
that is, the point after the intro where the actual singing call setup begins.
2. the end of the seventh part
that is, the point before the outro, where the actual call is over.
From these two points, the Callers Caddy automatically calculates the seven song parts and sets the sync points itself.
This is especially helpful if you have many songs and don't want to painstakingly sync each one individually.
What happens if the lyrics only appear once in the text?
Many cue sheets or lyrics contain a sequence only once, even though this part is used multiple times in the song.
That's not a problem either.
For example, if there is only one character in the text, but the song uses this spot multiple times, the auto-scroll can simply access this part of the song multiple times.
When jumping backwards, the display doesn't jump back abruptly. Instead, it pauses briefly and then continues running appropriately.
It feels much calmer, especially while you're singing or calling.
The text analyzer helps in identifying the structure.
Additionally, a text analyzer checks where important keywords appear in the text.
For example:
OPENER
MIDDLE BREAK
CLOSER
This helps the caller's caddy to better recognize where the typical song parts begin in the cue sheet.
The idea behind it is simple:
If the text already contains instructions, you shouldn't have to configure everything manually.
The caller's caddy uses this structure and suggests suitable sync points.
With my 600 songs, the automatic setting was at 93 percent.
I tested and measured this function with my own songs.
At around 600 songs The automatic detection has approximately 93 percent In most cases, a satisfactory result was delivered directly.
This does not mean that nothing ever needs to be edited.
But it means:
In most cases, the automatic function is perfectly sufficient to make the lyric scroll significantly more usable.
And if a song is structured differently, you can always manually correct the sync points.
