Many callers save the lyrics of a singing call multiple times: one version for mainstream, one for plus, and perhaps further variations for other dance programs.
With the new Dynamic Lyrics in the Callers Caddy, this is no longer necessary.
The Callers Caddy replaces the FIGURE sections provided by the producer directly on the screen with your own choreography sequences. The rest of the lyrics remain unchanged.
So you can use the same singing call with different dance programs without having to create and maintain multiple lyric files.
My blind spot as a sight caller
As a sight caller, I would never have considered using the sequences provided by the producer during a singing call. Therefore, I hadn't considered this use case for a long time when developing the caller Caddy.
That was clearly a blind spot. Because feedback from other callers showed me that this exact method is urgently needed. Some even save their lyrics multiple times so they have suitable sequences available for different dance programs.
For me, it was important to still have a Clear separation between lyrics and choreography sequences to maintain:
Lyrics remain lyrics. Sequences remain sequences.
The original lyric file remains unchanged, and the choreography continues to be managed in the sequence editor. Only when the choreography is displayed does the Caller's Caddy handle both. on the fly together.
This ensures that all information remains stored where it belongs. When calling, you still see the complete lyrics with precisely the sequences you want to use.
Live Sequence Injection: The exchange occurs during display.
The selected sequences are not permanently written to the lyric file. The Caller's Caddy places them. on the fly in the advertisement.
Where the included singing call figure is normally displayed, you'll see your currently selected choreography when you call. If you change the sequence or your settings, a different choreography may be displayed the next time you call.
Your original text will be preserved at all times.
Two options for your Singing Call characters
If you activate Dynamic Lyrics, you can currently choose between two options.
Option A: One sequence for all four characters
The sequence that is currently active in the sequence editor will be used for all four character parts of the Singing Call.
This option is suitable if you want to dance a sequence multiple times or deliberately use the same choreography for all figures.
Option B: Four consecutive sequences
The caller's caddy starts with the currently selected sequence and then uses the next three matching sequences. This way, each of the four figure parts automatically receives its own choreography.
The Caller's Caddy also takes into account the filters you have set in the sequence editor. These include, for example:
- the chosen dance program or program limit
- included calls
- additional active sequence filters
This determines which choreographies are suitable for the singing call. The caller's caddy then injects four appropriate sequences into the four character parts, one after the other.
What do you need for Dynamic Lyrics?
In order for the caller's caddy to use the choreography in the right places, three conditions must be met:
- It must be a singing call.
- A lyric file is required for the song.
- The SyncPoints must be set.
The SyncPoints tell the Caller's Caddy where the individual sections of the song are located. This is the only way the program knows where a figure begins and where the selected choreography should be displayed.
Where can you find Dynamic Lyrics?
Open the desired Singing Call Lyric window.
At the top of the window you will now find a dedicated button for Dynamic Lyrics. You activate the function here.
Depending on the selected setting, the Caller's Caddy then uses either one sequence for all four figures or four consecutive sequences.
Where can you change the selected option later?
If you later decide to use the other method, you don't need to reconfigure Dynamic Lyrics.
You can change the choice between the two options at any time in the Settings change.
What to do if the sequences appear too late?
If the new choreography appears on the screen slightly too early or too late, this is usually due to the set start time of the song. The entire singing call template is based on this time.
Switch to the lyric window. Sync mode. There you can move the entire singing call template forward or backward by a few seconds.
The automatic scan by the caller's caddy has already done most of the work for you. You only need to make a few minor adjustments to ensure the lyrics, music, and choreography are perfectly synchronized.
Once the SyncPoints of a song are correctly set, they will subsequently fit every sequence used. You don't need to redo the timing for each choreography.
A singing call, many dance programs
Dynamic Lyrics separates the stored song lyrics from the choreography used and only combines them when displayed.
You keep a single lyric file and decide in the Caller's Caddy which sequences you want to use today. The appropriate choreography automatically appears at the correct point on the screen when you call.
Dynamic Lyrics can now be used in Callers Caddy with version 0.132.
